A Thankful Fifth Grade

For the last two weeks we have been learning about the first English settlements in the New World. We have learned that the colonists came to America for the freedom to practice their own religion. We learned the mystery behind the The Lost Colony of Roanoke, the sad history behind slave ships and slavery in America, and the many Native American tribes that welcomed the new colonists.
Each student in the class chose an aspect of Colonial history to research. From the Mayflower, to slavery and on to the Original 13 Colonies, every student completed a paragraph describing one of these topics of Colonial history. Check them out below!
